How quickly did you go from 1 tank to 2?

So I'm curious, how quickly did you go from 1 tank to 2. I've had my tank up about a month and a half and I'm already trying to plan a new tank. This is addictive.

Yeah I find myself just sitting in front of my tank and watching the couple crabs, snails, 1 damsel, and a few mushroom corals for hours. My wife says I look like a kid looking through a toy shop window at all the fun toys. Lol

yup this when I started out years ago. I went from a 90 then to a 125L then went to a 240 with in 6ish months.

now I have a rs 750 and a small nano was trying to set up a another tank after the move but that might not happen.

my feeling is yeah we all want many tanks but they get expensive and time sucks

I can't answer that question at this point, as I have only had my first SW tank for 3 months; however ;Smuggrin , I am already researching my next aquarium.

not going from 1 tank to 2, but upgrading. started with a 40b, then to 75g then 120g, now contemplating setting up a 180g. I got a 180 acrylic with plans to upgrade, but then thought about my past and figured I should sell it and look for a 210+ as I'll want to upgrade from the 180 anyway. I haven't had any luck trying to sell it, so I'm probably going to end up setting it up

1-3 years before I moved on to the next tank. I generally only get a new tank when I move.

I plan to buy my first house in the near future and will probably plan to go huge compared to what I have done in the last 9-10 years. Even bigger if I can get the funds added to the house loan lol...

Hahah, It sure is! I managed to make it four months before setting up tank #2. In my case I wound up out of work on a short 6 week medical leave which left too many hours in the day for me to think about another setup.

This is a good take. My limit is 2 tanks, any more and it's just tedious. They also need to all be the same. I had 2 saltwater & 1 freshwater and that was really frustrating.

Agreed, When I hit tank 3 it became tedious for me too. One is almost always neglected to some degree.

3 tanks doesn’t always equal 3 tanks. What I mean is that a couple of display tanks may be more work that 10 bare bottom tanks for breeding fish or having multiple frag tanks. I have about 30 tanks and have several friends that have many more tanks than I do (with family and full time jobs). I encourage people to find their own pace, stay within their budget, make choices that align with their family, and be in a healthy space. That may mean more or less tanks and that decision process will likely be different for everyone.

Started back in the hobby February 2018 by setting up a tank I already had from the past. Immediately started planning my upgrade. October 2018 my 120 got filled and started cycling. While it was cycling I had a total of 4 tanks set up. 2-DT and 2-QT. I was getting fish QT’d and ready for when the 120 was good to go.

So now we get to today...
2 tanks running in the house. 1-qt and my 120 DT. And then there’s the fish room shed I finished a few weeks ago in my backyard. Ordered a building in the spring 2019 and once it showed up June it’s been work getting it finished. I’ve got 8 tanks in there and next weekend the first of them is getting filled and started.
