A mini brittle starfish.
You can eventually have a tank full of teeny tiny floating arms when you feed the fish. But that would take , guessing, at least 5 years of overfeeding.

I know I've added at least 10 minis to the tank in the past 2 years and i still don't get to see them in all the rock we have.

They are too cute.
Do the reproduce sexually, or by division?

Any clue what those are?
The brittle stars are all close cousins, with mostly just different colors and cool brand names.
Kind of like the fancy zoanthids.
The mini brittle starfish stay under 1", arms outstretched.

Lol, I have to admit to never watching a big one start out as a tiny one.
No idea what size the big ones are born/hatched at.

Anyone?

Honestly don't know.
I think sexually?

Have read that it is bad to cut the disk on a serpent starfish.
On a regular asterina starfish, or most of the others I'm aware, of you can slice right through the center and end up with 2 starfish.
I don't know about the brittle stars or serpent stars.

I have about 20-25 mini brittle/serpent stars in my 280 litre system and I remove them as I can. They reproduce by standing on the tips of their arms and casting their eggs/sperm into the water flow all at the same time I caught it on happening on evening in my tank, I didn't know which to do video it or try and catch them up in the end I videoed it then caught some of them up and sumped them as I hate the feel/ look of them. Sorry but I can't upload the video as the file is to large.
