how safe are these?

Maybe I misread, but did you mean to connect flexible tubing or it's flexible to connect solid pvc. They make solid or flexible pvc.

Those aren't meant for flexible pipe, you need something solid for the clamp to put pressure on. They make barb fittings for flexible tubing.

Also the ones without the metal sheathing on the outside won't pass code, not that you're plumbing your house, but we had to swap some of those out because for drain pipes they would eventually leak according to the inspector. With saltwater, I have no idea. Does it say what material it is?

Mainly want to put them between a pump and the pipe going either to the tank or from the tank to cut down on vibration noise. I main concern is if they are going to something to the water.

Right, I would use silicone tubing for that, it's reef safe and much more flexible, so vibration will be dampened. Brs sells some.

Never used them for an aquarium plumping. But have used them in home plumbing for drain lines and they work great and as long as they are tight won’t leak.
