my parameters are po4= .5 ppm which is defiantly high
nitrate = 50 ppm
ph 8

useing a salfreit test kit

need to lower phosphate and nitrate my hair algae problem is starting to get outa control.

Water change would be good start.
I am assuming that you are using RODI water.
Cut down on food.

Rapid I would start with doing weekly water changes 20%. Make sure you have good ro/di water. Siphon the sand.
Yea just did one last Sunday

gonna do another this week I usually don’t siphon sand cause the diamond goby has done a pretty good job at that lol

just did a 50% water change on my 40 gallon tank with fresh salt water or pretty close to it. Should i continue to do smaller water changes say in two days or three days ?

Check out reefcleaners.org they have great packages and take the guess work out of it, for you. You just choose what size tank you have or they can do a custom crew for you. Really not expensive at all and shipping is free. I have a 40gl also. The package i got was about $40. And then i added like 30 extra dwarf ceirths (only 17 cents a each) that cuc got rid of my hair algae in a mater of days and I havent had a problem since.

Heres a before and after:

Calcium is 450

just order more of a clean up crew for a 50 gallon tank should be here wensday
