I am looking to start a 70 gallon fish and reef tank. How should I get started and what kind of equipment should I get. Also, is there any good tips you guys can give me.

Are you going to drill it for a sump?

What's your ideas this is your tank.

I am still deciding if I should do a sump or not. What would you recommend? I am thinking about doing a lot of corals and some nice looking fish. What kind of filtration equipment would you recommend or if I do a sump what kind of equipment would you recommend for the sump.

I would also recommend going through some build threads. There is one going on at turtles deep blue sea. We have a bit of add but we have lots of fun.

@Fish_Tank_J man where was that article when I started? Wait I wasn't a member of reef2reef when I set my tank up.;Facepalm That's a great link;)

Yes i recommend a sump
You will need
Tank (reef ready or make it reef ready) and stand
Rocks
Sand
Lights
Wavemakers or powerheads
Heater (controlled)
Skimmer
Sump
Maintenance kit
Water Test kit
Auto top off (is highly recommended)
Quarantine setup ( is highly recommend as well)
A way of getting rodi waters weather its a local store or making your own
Then come all the extras like a controllers, timers, power strips, reactors etc...
Oh and lots of patients

I think i covered everything if not most

Allot of the things is according to personal preference my recommendation is look at some build threads take notes see what you like then YouTube every one of those notes and slowly purchase everything

Ok thank you for all the information. Sounds like a good plan.
