How to acclimate after 2 days shipping

I was supposed to receive shrimp, starfish and a clam today but the package got delayed until tomorrow. If everything is still alive, should I still do the slow drip acclamation?

Wow, tough call...never had that happen to me. Did you let the vendor know about it? I guess I would just go about normal acclimation if they are still alive

That's really sad to hear sorry you're having trouble with the shipping. Hopefully they are ok and I'd definitely drip them well starfish are very sensitive to swings.

As you drip them the water is going to reoxygenate which will slowly raise ph and increase the toxicity of ammonia built up in the last couple of days. Throw some Prime or other ammonia remover in the bucket with them and it should help.

That stinks. I would say regular drip because of the ammonia buildup. And I would be sure to remove water during the process. I am not an expert, just my thoughts.

Still waiting. Tried calling this morning when they opened to see if I could just pick them up, but they said they were on the truck out for delivery at 1AM so I just have to wait.

This time of year with winter here I hold off on live shipments.
As stated Amonia will be the biggest issue with this cold weather.
Try not to act too quickly as the water will be cold.
Drip slowly and temp acclimate slowly.

What's really frustrating is that I checked the tracking and called several times yesterday for updates and they kept telling me it would be delivered by 7PM. Then around 8:30 PM I get an email update that says it would be delayed a day. Then I check the tracking again and they added a message about it being left at the facility. It says 10AM but they definitely didn't actually update it until after 8PM.

Odd. Did it have overnight shipping I thought that was guaranteed by 1030 for most areas.

I'm going to hijack this thread for a sec. If you pay a vender for overnight shipping and it gets delayed like this situation, should the vender at least refund the shipping cost?

I would say yes as carrier will refund the vender as it is guaranteed.

Live Aquaria has one of the best customer service out there. I am pretty sure they will send you a new shipment right away if things goes wrong.

I think Live Aquaria is one of the few I've seen that doesn't have a rule about not getting a refund if the shipment gets delayed and they don't make you pay again for shipping if they livestock arrives DOA.

I've seen lots of others that say you are responsible for shipping every time which I don't agree with because they will get reimbursed.

I did contact Live Aquaria. They said to call them when I get the shipment in and they will resend if necessary.

Do you think I should skip floating the bag then so the temp doesn't rise too quickly? It was 47 degrees this morning when I got up... It's up to about 60 now, but if they've been on the truck all night/morning the water will probably be really cold as I'm sure the heat pack ran out.

I would float it but raise the bags for a few minutes as to not raise it too quickly
I would start the drip right off the bat as the Amonia might be sky hi

I'm referring to a situation I had with another vendor and they wouldn't refund the shipping.
