How to acclimate when theres a huge diffirence in salinty ?

Just bought a Flame angel, Powder blue tang and a clown fish. The LFS salinity is 1.017 mine is 1.024 Right now im floating the bags and add water every 5 mins. Plan to do this over 2hrs period. Is this ok?

That's a tough one. Easy to go down but not up. Are they going into a QT? If so, I'd adjust the QT salinity to match what the fish came in. Then work it upwards over several days if not a week.

Im not qt in it because im afraid the PBT can easily stressed out , thats why hes going straing into the DT

Idk why they keep the salinity that low at my LFS. Its not like hypo is going to kill ich. At least not at .017

It doesn't kill Ich but it slows it down so you don't see the symptoms. I suggest reducing the DT salinity if you can. Hope it works out.

I just double checked my salinity its .021 not too far off from .017 thanks

Next time, just add some ro water to the qt tank to match the water in the bag.

It's a bit too late now for this situation, optimum would have been matching a qt. But yeah a 2 hour acclimation to bring the SG up would be the next best. Good you were aware this could cause an issue.

I hope you dontvregret not qt. Running at that low of a sg is a huge red flag. I would bet they so run copper in their system. This practice is to manage, not cure disease. I would keep a very close eye, and treat for internal parasites.
