How to alert on ATO container low?

Hey everyone,

Now that I've been up and running for a couple of days, I want to setup an alert for when my ATO container gets low. I have a GHL float sensor that I've installed into my 5 gallon bucket about 1/4 from the bottom. It currently is the only sensor plugged in, so should be sensor 1.

What I'm wanting to do is send me an alert to refill and turn off my ATO system (Innovative Marine Hydro Fill Ti ATO Controller). I can't see how to do this.

Here is what I want:

ATO float triggers as tank low:
Alert during the day
Turn off ATO outlet

ATO float triggers as tank high:
Make sure ATO outlet is on

Yes. I have a 5 gallon bucket that is used as my reservoir. I don’t have an easy way to plumb into my water station.

As i understand - your ATO have its own regulation and you want your P4 only to warn you if the ATO container is empty and also - if empty - stop the internal pump in your ATO equipment. That equipment is connected to a power bar outlet?

I think it can be done but I need to know your set up first

Think I may have it. Found an article on using float sensor to prevent skimmer overflow. Is this correct?

Yes.

ATO reservoir with GHL float valve in it.
Existing ATO system plugged into outlet 5.

When float signals low, turn off outlet 5 and alert.
When float signals good, turn on outlet 5.

It should work but you are using the float in opposite way. For the skimmer - it should indicate leakage when the float is up but you want to show when the float is down (to less water) Either you set the sensor inverted or the switch channel inverted. Test what works best. I would probably prefer to set the switch channel inverted.

If you set the mail the way you have done now - you will get a notice every 2 minutes. Make it longer or use the function when new

Thanks @Lasse. Looks like everything is working. ATO reservoir just went low and shutdown the ATO. Filled the reservoir and system turned back on.

if you remove the clip on the bottom of most float switches and "flip" the moving bit it reverses the behaviour of the switch.
An alternative to using the "invert" when programing.
