how to catch a wrasse

Sixline wrasse? Gotta take all the rock out. They wont go into traps and are pretty much impossible to catch if there's somewhere to hide.

I am curious what kind of wrasse myself. in the mean time you can cut the top off a 2 liter bottle and make a trap. takes time and patience

really small fishing hook and some line go fishing in the mini ocean

Use copepod bait on those tiny hooks. drink tiny beers.

My buddy who used to work at the fish store would keep nets in his tank to get the fish acclimated to the nets and would just try to catch the fish randomly when he saw a chance over the course of days. This was in a 150gal reef in his apartment and he was very good at it. The only time he failed to catch a fish was a six line wrasse, he ended up tearing a lot of his rock work out to get him out.

I guess that wasn't really a motivational story, but good luck man!

it wont help, but I waited untill my grouper was trying to eat him. he was flat on the top of the water watching the grouper stalk him and I used a 12" net
it took 3 years in a 120g

As mentioned above, a soda bottle trap. However, the secret is to put a small hole in the middle of the bottle. Using a turkey baster, squirt in the fish’s favorite food. Leave the turkey baster in the hole. Every once in a while squirt the turkey baster again (just with the water). This creates a snow-globe effect with the food in the trap. The fish spies the food and swims into the trap. I think the longest it took me to catch a fish using this method was about ten minutes.

Very nice!

+1 on the trap. Used it on a Niger Triggerfish terrorizing tankmates. +1 on the hook and line my brother in law caught a Lunar wrasse with a Bream hook and a chunk of shrimp. I would clip the barb off though the hook can leave a nasty hole in the lip of the fish which could influence whether you could sell the fish if you wanted to.

Well, I tried the bottle trick and it just wasnt working, he is very smart. So i pulled all 70lbs of rock out and finally got him, I shattered my huge monti coral can I just frag the broken pieces??? Anywho although this was accomplished without minor tragedy the other tank mates are happy he was mean. My Coral beauty has some of his fin gone. Will it grow back is there something I can do to help him out? Thanks for all of your ideas and advice!
