How to check if t5 are still good?

I went to get a new tank from this guy and he had extra t5 lights that he said he wasn't going to use. He said he wasn't sure if they were still good or not but he thinks so. He gave me them for free and I got 6 of them. How can I check if they are still good or not?

I remember last time I got 80w t5's at Pet Connection they tested them with a hand held gizmo, maybe run them down there and see, although I'm not sure if they just tested if they would light vs still being good to use (not how long they could have been used for) He told me he had them for a long time on the shelf.

Thats funny you go to the same lfs as I do. Always wondered when I would find someone local on here. I go up there quiet often. I'll have to make a trip up there with the lights
