In addition to my MagFloat, I use JBF Aquarium blades with a 6" scraper. I generally wash my hand with Hydrogen Peroxide before I scrape any algae off the glass. The algae comes off in small chunks or sheets rather than violently atomizing the algae on the glass and creating a cloudy mess. JBF Aquarium blades are Stainless Steel and will last about 3 cleans per blade if you rinse them in RO/DI after use. You will need the blade pack (of 25) and a clean angled 6" scraper handle. They will not nick the silicone on the tank as the blades are shorter on both ends to account for the silicone. I hate to sound like a commercial, but these blades and scraper work way better than anything else I've used.
