How to clean live rock and sand

I just picked up a used 125gal and the guy gave me some live rock that has been sitting in water with no flow. How can i clean it before adding to the tank and also how do you clean the sand to transfer it. Do i use fresh water out of the tap or salt water

You can scrub down the rock using a vinegar and water mix.
The sand just throw in a bucket and run tap water through it until the water runs clear.

40 gallon brute with 30% distilled vinegar and ro water and power head for 2-3 days. Take out pressure wash and then do it again!
