How to clean Nyos skimmer part?

Hey guys I’ve been doing some searching and I can’t find an answer for this. I want to clean this air intake chamber on my Nyos Quantum 160, it’s getting black ‘gunk’ building up in it. When I pull on the plastic endcaps they don’t seem to budge. I don’t know if they’re just tight but I don’t want to pull too hard and break them if they’re not meant to be removed. Anyone have any experience?

Maybe pour some vinegar down the tube and use a pipe cleaner to get down to the area? The top doesn't seem to come off of mine either so that's probably what I will do when I need to clean that spot.

Yeah there’s a drain plug at the bottom, so that would work. I just really wanted to get in there and give it a thorough cleaning though

That tube is to hook up ozone if used. The cylinder is designed to not open. I would not suggest pouring anything in there. It is meant as an air chamber. There will be no way to drain unless pull out the unit and flip it over and shake it out the adjustment screw.

Is that tube above the gunned up peice open or closed off?

I just looked at mine. Looks they they changed that part just a bit. Mine does not have anything below.I am not sure if that is a plug on the bottom of it, that may work then

That tube is open and it wouldn't take long for a small amount of vinegar to evaporate if you put a touch in the chamber to clean it.

Well that stinks, I really hoped it would open up. And while I know that plug is meant for ozone, but if that chamber was full of liquid and you removed the plug it should drain.

Also the tube above the gummed up piece is open yes. What are you thinking, vacuum.. tiny tweezers?

Nyos makes good equipment, I can’t imagine they didn’t allow for a method to maintenance this air intake chamber.

If the plug opens a little hole in the bottom of the housing and you can be sure the liquid would drain you can try the vinegar. If no way to drain, the vinegar may break down the gunk but it will not remove it.

I checked thru a few online sites to see if there was an answer. Only thing I would assume is nyos did not make that peice to be serviceable

Maybe get a syringe connected to a piece of tubing so that you can suck the liquid out after washing

Thread resurrection... How you clean this:
1. Fill a small container with hot water and EzeClean.
2. Remove the silencer, black air screw (top) black air plug and rubber cap (both bottom).
3. Immerse the silencer, leave for a few hours, remove, rinse with water or RO and let air dry.
