Hello,

I'm a newbie and setting up my first reef tank. I've actually had the stuff for it for over a year! However, my ex set up the sump plumbing, and the pipe for the return came off.. What type of pipe or fitting would connect to this return plug connected to the bottom of the tank, since I can't detach it to take it to home depot and ask...

That is a hose barb for soft tubing with a hose clamp. Which does not appear to be what you have in your hand.

Thank you! Not at all .. I'm no plumber by any means... But, I was like... I don't think this should be glued to this.. I guess that means I should get some reinforced braided tubing for the return instead? Which seems easier honestly.. Thank you just for identifying that hose barb, cause I had no idea what to call it and therefore what to Google.

I believe this would work, and then there has to be a screw-y thing to attatch to the adapter for pvc?

If the hose barb will unscrew you could use a standard plumbing fitting. NPT to slip adapter

Or put another hose barb on the end of the PVC and clamp in a piece of tubing

Or run vinyl

Any would work

Almost looks like flex pvc was pushed onto the barb. Probably best replaced.

I think he tried to cement it to the barb, but I can't seem to unscrew the barn eithier so in night have to just do vinyl tubing.
