I realise that many of you like your zoas, but mine are starting to take over my live rock. What is the best way to control the spread or actually remove the zoas?

I just use tweezers to remove the Zoanthids I don't want. Sometimes they'll come right off, other times I'll destroy them in the process. Either way though they're pretty easy to manage IME.

This is usually done right before a water change too btw.

depends on whether you want to keep them or kill them.
If I want a large area off a rock and want to keep them, I'll use a hammer and cheap( but sharp) wood chisel.
If I just want them gone because they are ugly, then kalk paste.

Buy a new piece of rock and trade it into the LFS for credit or another coral. Make use of what grows like weeds in your tank. It will benefit you as well as others.:)

depending on landscape you could move the rock so they cant grow onto another

Removing zoas from under the water is a pain. If you can remove the rock and do it outside it'll be a lot easier. Do you just want to frag the edges or remove them all?
