How to control small serpent stars??

I've never worried that there were too many in my tank. Their population will wax and wane based on food supply.

With the population going up and down would it raise the nitrates when they die?

I have a Melanurus wrasse that eats the brittle stars up like candy. He does not eat the asternia stars that I want him to eat.lol.Keep in mind that this type of wrasse will also go after snails and possibly other inverts. That aside, your best bet would be to pull out rocks and collect them where they hide.Sometimes they go into a frenzy when I am cleaning the tank. This can be a good time to collect the excess as well.Best of luck!
