So I've recently been getting into all kinds of lps and sps. And I want to make sure I know how to lower, change, correct, add, dose, and or take out the necessary chems to correct my levels to the right numbers. Can anyway explain to me in basic simple words on what I need to do in order to bring my levels up, down, or maintain on MAGNESIUM, CALCIUM, AND ALKALINITY? I've read forums and pages, but I just want simple if that's possible. I know what the parameters are suppose to be, I just want to know how to correct mine if the are too low or high.

Well to raise alkalinity, add some baking soda.

To lower alk, let it naturally come down on its own.

To raise calcium, add some calcium chloride pellets.

To lower calcium, let it drop on its own.

Same with magnesium. Let it come down on its own, or add epsom salts to raise it.

To maintain alk, calcium and magnesium requires you test for each to determine how much you need to add to maintain that level.

If your alkalinity drops 1dkh per day, you need to add baking soda at 1dkh per day. If your calcium drops 20ppm per day you need to add calcium chloride. Same with magnesium.

Its good to test at least weekly all three if your adding manually.

What part are you confused about?
