How to cover the aquarium?

I've got a standard 55g tank, and a cat that likes to fish in said tank. I'm trying to figure out how to cover the tank without blocking the light or having to remove equipment. I've got a HOB refugium on the back as well as a HOB filter system, and inside I've got a protein skimmer that's internal. I need something to cover the top to keep the cat out and help with evaporation that won't require me to take out the skimmer or remove the other stuff. So far the only thing I can come up with is a sheet of acrylic with a portion cut out for the skimmer but I'm wondering if there are other options out there first? only store I've got here is Lowes so it either needs to be there or easily mail orderable lol.

I have used acrylic before, with cut pieces to fit around skimmer. It worked great, didnt really block much light, and it cut evaporation in half. But, it will warp pretty quickly. I know bulk reef supply has screen tops for tanks as well.

If you are going to use plastic, polycarbonate (lexan) is a much better choice than acrylic as it warps much less.

I use quarter inch glass and it works pretty well. You just need to clean it every other week or so.
