I would use vinyl plank flooring, it's great stuff and 1 box would be enough

Ah waterproof type of paint... I am wondering if it being waterproof all over means it would get more moist inside? I don't have the space to put the electrical wiring outside of the sump. Not sure.. if its fully waterproof it would make it more dangerous?

I recommend enamel paint and them some vinyl floor tile for waterproof and appearance, which will easily slide under sump

I agree, embrace the ugly. Thats what a sump is for after all, to hide the ugly from the display.

You could cut the plumbing and then install unions to put it back together. Then if you need to do any maintenance in the future you could easily remove and replace.

I think today.. I’m going to go buy a pretty fish to add to my DT. Will try to fight the ugliness with some pretty fish..
On a random note, my bubble tip anemone just split! My first split... but the smaller one could die so.. will have to maybe wait to add another fish..

This is a good option, more useful than an evening class in wood working, where after 10 weeks of study you will have only produced a three legged wonky stool.

The person who built this had a professional construction guy as her husband.. I guess that’s why I’m too scared to touch it.. a newb can’t really do better than a pro.. but
Ever since I’ve joined this forum.. I’m like..

I would have made the UV sterilizer go the opposite way.. so changing the lamp would be easier..

would have made a control unit that’s more protected from moisture, easier to access

would have added something to the floor to avoid spillage (normally happens when I add water) + made enough space to add auto top off..

lol and the list continues the add on as I keep reading more posts lol

Wouldn't enamel paint have lots of fumes and possible chemical released into the air of the sump area?

Cover tank and ventillate as you would do with other pets and even children in the house. Latex enamel not too bad with fumes.
