So I'm trying to figure out how I wanna do this its a 40b going with one or two giant dry rock chunks and maybe a few from my established tank as well as live sand. The two issues im forseeing is 1. all the clownfish are going in at once probably 10 of them so how could you properly cycle even with turbostart or a similar product? 2. if the anenomes need to go in first how do you manage them during the cycle?

First off, if you are going to have anemones in the tank, you want a more mature tank. This can be accomplished with sand and rock from another tank. What type of anemones are we talking about? This will determine if you need the sand.

If you begin with lots of rock from an established tank, you will not get a cycle and the fish can be put in right away, no issues unless half die immediately.

I still would be leary to add nems except maybe BTAs for a while to get all parameters steady and good lighting and such going. Depends on your comfort and experience level really.

Been at this on on off for 10 years now I know its a tricky setup I can pull a good amount of established rock from my other tank though

I was going to do a group of BTA and maybe a carpet

Cool. I was not sure and for a newbie it could be a tricky set up. I moved my 3 haddonis to a 40gB when they ate too many fish in my 210g. I only have clowns in with them. They are happy and good. This tank was already running for well over 5 years though, just not for this purpose. :)

Throw the clowns in they will make it cycle.

I'm picking some kind of pricey ones so I didn't wanna chance it I'm sure they'd be fine though just alot of expensive fish at once
