I'm battling a pretty bad flea problem in my house after letting my friend borrow my carpet cleaner. Seeing as I don't have any pets other than my reef tank I would assume that's the only way that I have fleas. I'm going to assume that I cannot bomb the house for fleas so I have been sprinkling borax on the carpet weekly but it doesn't seem to be helping. What other methods can I use to deal with this?

I would spread a good dose of borax on the carpet, use a broom to sweep it in to make sure it gets to the base. Don't vacuum for at least a week. I'm thinking you didn't use enough borax.
Make sure you get all the carpets. Fleas need moisture to survive and the borax makes your carpet a desert. Should be all dead in a few days.

OH lord...fleas are the worst. Continue the borax if you like, but my best advice is to make sure you get everything off your floors like clothes, toys, general stuff. Vacuum constantly. Several times a day. Dispose of the vacuum bag or the contents in an plastic trash bag and tie a knot in it. Make sure there is nothing for them to feed on such as pets or yourself. They need the blood meal to make the eggs for the next generation. Killing them before they become sexual mature is also key. Spray bug killer directly on them. It must make contact. Good luck. So awful

Having this same problem! Mostly hardwood and vinyl in house. Basement where the tank is of course is all carpet. So far we've given a flea bath to all 3 cats and put flea and tick medicine on them.

Agree with vacuuming, a lot.

We foster dogs sometimes... and ya Fleas ... (facepalm)

diatomaceous earth in the rugs in part of the getting rid of them.
