Hey everyone,

My nitrates in my 75 gallon tank sit at about 80ppm. We have two 75 gal hang on the back filters, and do biweekly waters changes of about 25%.

The only problem I have with my nitrates is my tang's HLLE. He has it and it's only slowly getting worse. We have no more stray electricity, and we feed him a variety of shrimp, and seaweed doused in vitamins.

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

To lower them you need to find the source. I suspect its your hang on the back filters, better known as power filters. Couple of questions.

1. Do you have a protein skimmer?
2. Are you using algae in a fuge?

I apologize i never answered the your initial question. Water changes are going to be your best option.....however as i pointed out previously you will need to confirm your source of nitrate. 80ppm is very high.
