How to dip zoas in H202

Can I do a dip in just h202 or do I have to dilute it?

I would dilute at first, half peroxide and half tank water. During an algae problem I dipped some zoas in 3% undiluted and 4 out of the 10 polyps melted away in about a week.

Try using a q-tip and dab the algae with straight peroxide, let sit a minute then rinse in seperate tank water.

Mix a bath of 10% hydrogen peroxide with tank water and soak coral for 10 minutes. For sensitive coral, I dip for 5 minutes.

If you meant dosing the display tank, I suggest you do it with trepidation. Hydrogen peroxide is an indescriminate oxidizer of all things organic, especially bacteria.


PS: Hydrogen peroxide is used in a similar way as chlorine to sanitize swimming pools. It is not friendly to your biofilter

Last page here shows the strongest overdose I’ve seen for 3% and noneffect to any filter bacteria. Of course we’re not testing the full scale of bac in the tank, but nine yrs of collected works all in one thread is also a decent pattern watch/ inference on effects

What was threshold value of 3% h2o2 indisplay tank.

Without me having to read 22 pages of thread, how did you document “noneffect to any filter bacteria”? Did you qualify nitrification from denitrification bacteria? Did you qualify bacterioplankton populations and their place in the food chain?

My takeaway from the yrs is no bac harm, or inability to sustain bac harm such that any impact is measured, even in most overdoses.

we didn't need to factor the things you are asking about in order to produce the patterns, though I'd be interested in knowing those answers.

Those are valid questions you have. All we do is produce pages of patterns, free bulk data and no bac harm is what I draw from it.

Regarding bacterioplankton- i imagine the half a million nano reefers changing all or most of their water + doing fine to be impacting bp as well. Anyone dosing live phyto should cease during dosing for sure/agreed

The problem in full tank dosing, we show, is growback. Controlling nontarget impact is easy- yes it's a systemic oxidizer but apparently below ld50 for anything one can measure or require to reef
