How to drip a liquid in tank 1 drip per second?

I never knew how to do it. What equipment do I need to slowly drip something from a gallon container into a 5 micron sock.

The simplest thing to do and what I would do is get two clips, and air line tubing. Clip one end of the tube to the container and clip the other end to the sock. Tie a knot on the tube and start a siphon and adjust the tightness of the knot based on how you want the flow. Or instead of tying a knot you can buy a little valve that they usually sell at big box pet stores of at your lfs

In line with the comment above, I used to use a 1/4" air line house with a basic knot in it to create a drip line for acclimate and more. For a longer term solution you can use a BRS acclimation kit (see post above) or a Two Little Fishies micro ball valve with 1/4" air line. Good luck!

Thanks! One more question, to start a siphon I need to suck on the output tube. Is there an alternate way to start a siphon without putting anything in my mouth. I’ve always been squeamish about doing that.

If you buy the AccuDrip, there's a squeeze bulb on the tubing to start a siphon.

To start a siphon without putting anything in your mouth:
(1) put both ends of the hose underwater until all air in the hose is released, cap both ends with your thumbs (or pinch of the ends if the hose is flexible), then transfer one end into the container that you are siphoning out of while holding the other end below the water surface.
(2) use a turkey baster.
(3) buy an auto siphon (search online for vendors).

I’m trying to drip pool seaklear to lower phosphate.

for airline tubing, I usually just attach a syringe to the other end and pull some water to start the siphon.

I’m doing this with Phosphat-E (same stuff but labeled for aquarium use). I dilute 500 mL in RODI to make 5L total solution and I dose this throughout the day with a BRS 1.1 mL/min pump controlled by apex. If you don’t have an apex you could use any regular timer, the flow rate is so slow that it will be a small addition by design (and diluting out the additive helps as well).

+1. Earlier drip solution recommendations were based on acclimation (or comparable). Because of the consistency and precision necessary in dosing, a dosing pump is preferable and the BRS pump that was recommended is a solid option.
