I have been trying to breed neon gobies for some time and I have a breeding pair. My only problem was they were spawning in a rock and I have been unable to get them out. They and their rock are now in a 20 gal. high breeder and I have been trying to catch the larva with a snagger. I have on two occasions caught a few fry. I can’t see the clutch so I don’t know if it was small, or when it hatched. So I have decided to evict the fish from the rock. So like a roadrunner cartoon, here is my first contraption.

The screen box is 10” x10” x 8” high. I will be putting the live rock in the box and zip tying it shut. The gobys will have to find their way out like a fish trap in revere. They will have to get out to eat. Once out I can cover the hole and then net the fish and move to a bare tank.

I am going down stairs now to put the rock in the box and I will post pictures as I do it.

Any bets?

So far so good. I have caught one of them. I think it is the female as the male tends the eggs.

This morning the second one was out and I removed the rock in the box. Then netted the fish and put it back with its mate in a tank with only pvc caves.

They should have had you help catch those two escaped convicts from New york, lol. Nice job on the trap.
