How to find a mate for my clown

My wife would like to find a mate for the clown in our tank. From what she's read, if you only have one it will become female and we believe she is. She loves to dig to make a place for her. How would we be sure to get an asexual baby that will turn male in the presence of a female?

I was always told that if you have only one in your tank than you should always get the next one that is a lot smaller than the current clownfish in the tank

Definitely don’t get one bigger than your current clown. Once they become female, that’s it. They can’t go back to being male. So if yours is female and you get a bigger clown (which would also be female) then they’d fight and as far as I know that fight would be to the death.
However, if you get the smallest clown you can find (and it is also much smaller than your current clown) it should be a juvenile so that’s the best chance you’ve got of getting a pairing.

I have found that you can get a smaller or bigger clownfish than your current one it doesn't matter... However you must practice social acclimation to your tank with your existing clown when adding your new fish. This prevents your clown from bullying the new clown to death.

Never bigger. That’s absolutely awful advice, unless the goal is to get back to one clown. ALWAYS smaller lesser chance of it already changed to a female
