I have a huge green sinularia that I want to frag a piece off off. When I got it, it wasn't attached to a rock but it had two separate branches and I was able to use a rubber band to attach it to a large rock. There is a single stem that I would like to frag because the rest is just getting way to big.

I'm wondering how to attach the single stem to a piece of rock? Do I glue? How long should I let the glue sit before putting it back in the tank?

I don't think I can use a rubber band since its only a single piece.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Wedge inbetween rocks or place with a bunch of rocks in basket. Best way to do it. I have treid rubber bands, I have tried sewing, glue will never work. I found just letting them naturally attach is best.

I use rubber bands to attach my soft coral frags or just throw them into a tray of rocks and let them attached on their own. When I use rubber bands they cannot put much pressure on the coral and really the rubber band is only there to just lightly hold the coral against a rock. After a couple weeks the corals normally attach and the rubber band is removed. If the rubber band is allowed to put lots of pressure on the coral it will just waste away at that point.

Put a plastic tooth pick through the base about a quarter to half inch up. Rubber band over the ends of the tooth pick with a little pressure on your rock. Once attached remove the rubber bands and gently spin the toothpick and slide it out.
