i have this amazing Toadstool (imo) but it is getting out of control. The side shoots are making the aquascape challenging and I'm wanting to know if I can frag the entire off shoots as is or do I need to just do the perimeter cut around the base to control their growth. Here are two pics of what I'm working with:

The rock it's attached to is actually very small in diameter and I don't know if I can take rock with the base of the off shoots

I would just cut the shoots off as close to the base as you can with some sharp scissors. Then you can either sell these whole or cut them up into smaller frags.

Here's how I frag mine,

You can about any part of it successfully.

Thanks @ritter6788, just wondering if I can take one whole and mount it. I was thinking of slitting the stock and using zip ties to hold it to the rock. I have tried the rubber band method with perimeter cuts and it seamed to cut some in half killing sections. When I slit and zip tie I don't have any die off of an area due to what I always thought was to much compression of the rubber band

Absolutely. Sounds like a good plan you have.

we snip ours whole at the base, they latch on really fast and have been the easiest coral to frag. we cut one down about 2weeks ago and its already started to grow a replacement head already.

Shoots are what exactly. New to coral keeping and I have a toadstool. Just curious

I'm new also so I'm not sure of the proper term, I'm using a agriculture term for the smaller toadstools growing off the base of the main one. Check out the second picture in my first post

I cut a 1" ring off the edge then sliced that up. I attach them to frag plugs with cotton thread - wrapped it around tightly, then super glued the thread to the underside of the plug. I do it this way for two reasons, the thread holds the frag in place till it attaches to the plug (too slimy to use glue) and the thread will also bifurcate the frag as it grows. One frag becomes two with no additional effort, well, just cutting the plug in two.
