I have a huge palythoa colony and I need to frag it, it would be hard to take out the rock.. So what is the best way to do it without irritating any of my corals/fish/myself by palytoxins?

Ok, I thought it would be more advanced than that. Thanks.
If you cause the coral to slime up in the tank the polytoxin would be released. Its best if you could frag it outside the tank and rinse put back in DT. Just my thoughts. IMO it best to frag outside the tank if at all possible

+1

Can you snip a small piece of rock with the paly attached in the water. Then you can take it out glue it to a frag plug.

. If not take the rock out. If you take it out, before you do put on safety glasses and gloves. They can squirt that toxin so be carefull

As a personal preference this is something you would want to do outside.

Not sure where you live but that probably isn't feasible right now.

I fragged a small rock of Grandis and after 10 minutes exposure had a noticeable headache and felt a little weird.

Definitely wear safety glasses and gloves. And old clothes you won't miss.

Could be over kill but I would much rather be safe than sorry and probably won't be fragging mine again any time soon.

just make sure you wear goggles, cover your skin. My lfs guy fragged some of his and well, it got in his eye and said it burned like all hell

I like to frags mine when attached to rock with a screwdriver. I dig in under the polyp and break a small price from the rock. I end up with the poly still attached to a thin layer of the rock, that is easier to super glue to a frag plug.

Also +1 to the gloves/eye protections/ and ventilation. With zoas it’s always better safe than sorry!
