How to get damsels out?

So I have 4-5 damsels Im trying to remove from a 55 gallon tank. I can't remove the rock and I'm not going to do the fishing hook method, yes they're aggressive and chasing fish but that's their nature and they shouldn't be punished for it, my buddy has a semi pred tank they would be great for, any tips on removing?

I've had luck getting damsels out using a net during feeding. Normally they're so crazy about getting the food you can swoop in a grab them. The soda bottle trick works pretty well too.

Might try a fish trap.

Add trigger dont feed then fish trap trigger to remove him. Or just buy fish trap and dont feed tank.

It was that or let it continue to harass my other fish, believe me or not the chromis picked on a yellow tang to death and started messing with my clowns, I wasen't gonna sit around and watch that. The chromis was fine and lasted 2 weeks at my lfs before someone else bought the evil.

I've always had a very easy time catching fish with a net with the lights out. They don't see it coming Fish trap is a good idea too.

I caught my ****-sel with a simple bottle trap. The secret is to cut a hole in the middle of the bottle. Using a turkey baster, squirt some taste food into the bottle. Leave the turkey baster in the hole and every minute or so re-squirt water into the bottle. This creates a snow-globe effect with the food. The fish see/smell this food and dart in….caught.

I'm not saying it was cruel on your behalf, I'm saying with mine it was more territorial than aggression, I have had them for four years and wanted them to make it as safely as possible

Yep! So that after you catch the fish, you can quickly open the bottle to get the fish out. I've had great success with this trap.

Same here. They're usually out of it if you wait awhile after the lights go out.

Regarding the fish hook, I've read where people cut the barb off the end to not cause serious injury to the fish.

Yes, removing the barb greatly reduces the chance of injury. It can be done by pinching the barb with a needle nose pair of pliers.
