Hello R2R members and SPS specific enthusiasts. I have been reefing for several years now and just finished getting my new tank set up. Ive had several SPS tanks from a 65 gallon and a 40B to a 120 Gallon and now back down into just a 40B. I have recently moved to the Ann Arbor area so if anyone around here has a decent SPS collection hit me Private message wise and maybe soon we can begin trading SPS because most of my previous business was done in the Bloomfield Utica area. Fortunately for friends when I moved I was able to store my 70 SPS frags/Sm Colonies/Lg Colonies with a buddy who's name is Tom Tbd320! I couldn't thank this reefer enough for doing what he did for me he saved my coral as well as my enthusiasm with the reef keeping hobby. I purchased about three years ago from a former owner of Pro Corals a piece of the Pro Corals Rainbow Acro I will post pictures of it tomorrow. Unfortunately ever since I got this coral back into my possession its color has slowly declined probably because I don't have the genius Tom did when it came to SPS but as far as parameters of water quality nothing is making sense. Ill go through my current parameters but what I am interested in questioning other members of the SPS realm is what you all are doing to receive better red's and deeper coloration on your more Rainbow corals. My green sps throughout the tank is beautiful and even my forest fire digi colony is beautiful but the only coral that seems to be struggling is this rainbow Acro. Perhaps it is getting to much or to little of light so tell me what you all think.
Light Fixture
ATI 6 bulb t5
Korallen Zurich Super Blue (TIMES 2)
Korallen Zurich Purple Plus
Korallen Zurich Coral Light New Gen II (TIMES 2)
ATI Super Blue PLus
I run the Blue and the Purple for an hour and a half at lights on from 12:00-1:30 then kick on the other bulbs in addition to the original two until 7:30 then go back to the Blue and Purple from 7:30-9:00
My water parameters
Salinty: 1.025
Ca: 470
ALK: 9.4
MG:1460
Phosphates: .10 ( Little high no GFO or Macro in this tank just weekly water changes this was recorded towards the end of the week)
Temp 79.5-81
PH: 8.1
I run Kalkwasser in the ATO and go through 5 gallons in a about 5-7 days. The Phosphates is what I am also questioning what are you guys doing to keep these levels down.
All help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Daniel
