Hello
I need some suggestions
How to get rid hair algae on the rocks?
I've discovered the issue, it's worng cement used 8 months ago to glue live rocks, but Fluocanazole doesn't work
I woulk like to avoid to remove rocks and start with another one.
Maybe ZEOLITE or ALGAE SCRUBBER could help?
In the last 3 months I've bought new osmosis system with 5 stadium, I've changed 30% weekly water of my reef tank (80gallons net volume), but probably silicates released by cement is already present.

Silicates would cause diatoms. You could use fluconazole at 2 times the strength or vibrant I believe. I killed my algae with double strength. When I was talking to mark from meleev's reef at rap 2 years ago we had a conversation about his bubble algae treating with fluconazole 4x the strength

Just curious but where are your nutrients at now. Have you tested N03 and P04 lately?

Yes, one month ago I did ATI ICP and NO3&PO4 was ZERO (red flag). I add Nutrients ATI (N and P), because I had light tissue on SPS
Now I've NO3 around 3-4 ppm

That's good. When my nutrients were out of balance my tank seemed to grow hair algae like crazy. At one point I had to just pull my rocks, scrub them, and cook the algae off with hydrogen peroxide. It was pretty bad at that point tho. Manual removal seemed to help me the most.

7 years should be more then mature. In a last ditch effort to get rid of my hair algae I scrubbed all my rocks, used h202 to burn away what's left, started using Vibrant, and beefed up my clean up crew. I cant say what worked for sure or if it was the combination but it worked. Manual removal is time consuming and can be messy but I think it helped the most. I would get out as much as possible by hand and then get some cleaners. Trochus and Turbo snails will eat hair algae. Crabs also help.

tuxedo urchins - one per 20 gallons. Halloween urchins are also fantastic. Buy the smallest specimens you can find.
