I'm trying to get the copper out of my qt tank. It is a 20 gal hex with a small bit of sand for a sand sifter and a stack of pvc pipe--my townhouse of pvc. QT is over but my tank is fallow until October. I have algae starting and want to add some of my trochus snails (I've had at least 4 sets of babies so I have tons). Also my scooter blenny is in a 10 qt as he can't be in copper--I treated him with CP. Now I'd like to move him into the hex with the other fish and tear down the 10 gal.

I'm changing water every couple of days. Test kit is now less than .25 (or whatever that lowest color/reading is). Do I need to remove the sand and add new? Remove the pvc tower and put in a new one? Or will water changes eventually get me to a zero reading? The fish need to be in this until mid october.

Seachem Cuprisorb - i use in sps tank if i have copper showing on icp test & it pulls it out well

You could also try Triton's Detox. I personally use Cuprisorb

Cuprisorb has made copper undetectable in my 20g QT after 24hrs. Also, if those trochus snails are in your fallow DT don't add them to the qt'd fish.
Edit: don't add any inverts unless they have also been qt'd

Yes I missed that, definitely don't move any snails or inverts from your DT into your qt or you will risk reinfection

ugh, missed that! No snails being moved. Darn and not worth buying any more as I have more snails than I can feed right now. Ordered the cuprisorb. Atleast I can get the blenny added.

Also, buying snails wouldn't have been any good either. They can carry ich cysts on their shells. After going fallow I now qt all of my corals (hard skeletons and frag plugs can carry it also) and inverts in a fishless tank for 76 days. Just so you know for the future.
