How to Get Rid of This Algae

Hey guys,

I currently have a 13.5 evo tank and I've had this algae for bit now. I figured it was due to the stock filtration raising the nitrate levels, but after getting rid of the stock filtration I still have this algae. Even though I'm getting 0 ppm for nitrates and nitrites. What do you guys think?

The algae is consuming the nitrates faster then you can test for it. You need to figure out what is feed this algae. Start with the basics. Lighting, feeding, husbandry, etc.. if you post more about your system we might be able to help narrow it down.

Oh ok. Yea I'm not sure what the source could be. In the first chamber of the sump I filter floss, an activated carbon bag, and some bio stones and then I have live rock in the second chamber.

I just have the stock light and and stock power head. I feed them once a day I try and have them pick the flakes off my finger to reduce overfeeding.

What is the stock lighting? That could be it.

Are you using RODI water? If so what's the TDS of the output?

I gotta agree. If you start trying to fix the normal aging process of your tank too early, you could wind up causing more problems than you fix. If things get out of hand, you might need to make a change, but I personally would let the tank mature.
