I've been reading on it, and read that JB water weld is good, but I plan to have a reef, is this going to damage the ecosystem? If you have any other experience or options, please share!

If you can get away from glues using cable ties aka zip strips offer no worries of glues. Also using nylon thread all. Sometimes the desired attachment doenst all for anything but glues. JBs works great. It cures best out of water. It will cause your skimmer to go a little nuts. How long depends on how much was used skimmer and water volume of course. I bonded tocks over a decade ago and have never noticed any issues. Wasn't JB that ssd used but a similar product. Since I have used several types and the only issue I have ever found is the skimmer.

I'm going to use a hang on back skimmer, do you think it will make it overflow or anything of that sort?

You might want to turn off your skimmer until the Water Weld hardens a little. I waited an hour or two before turning the skimmer back on.

Thanks Vic, good idea, do you think it will effect the tan at all if I do all of that and just put the skimmer in afterwards?

FWIW. I used straight super glue gel to put together a small rock formation that took up my entire Fluval spec 3. Now its in my biocbe as the left island. Has held together great. No issues with skimmer, etc.

Doing some research right now into this idea! No idea if it's safe yet but based on the package it should be fine. Opinions would be nice. Seems like a cheap easy substitute for water weld.

I used about 4 sticks of the jb waterweld with superglue gel and it has not hurt anything worked really well and cheap. I just rolled the weld into balls and put superglue on each side to help the rock stick to the waterweld quicker, worked great for me definitely recommend it. It will make your skimmer go crazy for a couple of days. I just rode it out and let the skimmer do its thing.
