How to go about stocking my new tank

My 90 gallon tank started cycling last Sept. 18 and after 13 weeks of the process, I had my first two zoa frags last weekend ( red people eater??? won in a raffle ). Would like to get your help / inputs on the following:

1. How many corals/frags can I add at a time? ( planning to have a soft coral dominated tank)
2. How often should i stock? Every week? Every 2 weeks? and so on...
3. Should i have the same practice when adding fishes?

When you say stock, are you referring to corals and inverts? If you are, then as long as your parameters are stable you can add corals pretty much everyday if you wanted. Corals and inverts really do not contribute very much if anything to the bioload of a tank, its mostly the fish that do that. I would add a fish or two then wait a week or so to see how the tank responds. If all your parameters stay in the correct ranges, then add a few more the next week. The best way to tell if its ok, is simply to test your tank to check the parameters, this will be the best guide you can have.

Yes, i was referring to corals and inverts as well. So far parameters have been stable and I will be following your thoughts to religiously check on it to ensure the tank is doing okay.

But if I add a few frags and a pair of clowns all at the same time, then I will give the tank a 2 week break in stocking but with continous water testing.

Hello there!

Just an update on my 90 gallon tank. After 6 months running ( 13 weeks cycling process ), it is now home for a number of zoa frags, 2 sps frags, 3 brain corals, 3 euphylias, 3 blastos, 2 scollys and some mushrooms.
Also i have the following fishes:

2 clown fishes
1 lawnmower blenny
1 foxface rabbit fish
1 banggai cardinal
1 orange fire fish
1 six line wrasse
1 blue tang

I am planning to add 4 more fishes

2 purple fire fish
1 flame angel
1 bruneus wrasse

Am I overstocking my tank with these?

You need to be prepared to either upgrade or find a new home for the blue tang and foxface. They will get too big for your tank and need lots of room to swim around. In my opinion, I think it is a bit much. However, as long as you're keeping on top of cleaning and husbandry, I don't think it will be a problem. But then again, I don't have much experience. Those are all beautiful fish, but I think you're pushing the boundaries for a 90 gallon.

What are you using for filtration?

And I am also a big fan of the rock structure. Looks great!

Appreciate your reply......i have a 40 gallon sump with a refugium which house chaeto and a small mangrove. I also use seachems seagel for phosphate control, carbon and pimuce stones. I do a 10 gallon weekly water change for regular husbandry.
