How to grow zoa fast

My experience is that each type has different results.. (evolution?) I'm interested if there's a magic one size fits all but I doubt it.

No magic.

I placed a 1 square inch tile that had green Zoa on it in my tank. After a few years, it has become a pest. It carpets my rock, substrate and plumbing..

Never did anything special for them. Provided good light and flow. Also regular water changes to replenish elements.

Let nature take its course.

Zoa care requirements vary greatly... however you just need to provide proper light, flow and water parameters.... sounds simple but it can get complicated....

Some respond well to target feeding, others don’t. I target feed my sunny d and it’s the fastest growing one I have. It’ll grab pieces of reef frenzy. Other just seem to grow like weeds with no special attention and others I can’t seem to get to grow much at all.

Some naturally grow much faster than others. Sunny D, Pandora, Mohican sun, Mohawks, etc are some very well known examples. The best you can do is good flow, enough light so they’re very open and brightly colored, and target feed with reefroids or similar.

You can kind of tell how fast a zoa grows based on price (cheaper=fast and expensive=slower as a general rule) the best thing you can do is make them happy then don’t touch them

I can verify that Mohawks grow fast lol. I had 3 on a plug 2.5 weeks later I had 7. Pandora’s as well.

I believe just making sure you provide stable conditions “dirty water” proper light and flow they all grow at the fastest rate for that specific Zoa.
Single polyps take longer to start producing babies.

I use Seachem Aquavitro “Fuel” and my zoas seem to like it. As footgal said, price is directly correlated to growth rate. If a morph grows really quickly, anyone who buys it can frag and pass it on, making a higher supply. I use AI Prime 16HD, and it works wonders :)
