Ok so I am setting up a new tank. 72x30x16. It has a synergy reef over flow on the short side and already bottom drilled with 2 returns on the other short side. The overflow pipe is fine I can hide it enough. The returns are drilled in the bottom panel and are on the far left side an open viewing area for the room. There is no box around them. I am planning a negative space type of aqua scape and I thought maybe i could had them in it some how. Does anyone have the problem solved or have ideas for me? I will try and get a pic up.

Can you post a picture? It sounds to me like your holes aren't in an overflow box?? If one of those bulkheads leaks down the road what will prevent the entire tank from draining?

Use the synergy overflow and cover the holes through bottom of tank with glass, then sand. Bye bye.
Run new return

You can use the returns outlets that are drilled on the bottom panel as a closed loop and then run new return lines over the short panel.
