I purchased a Neptune ATK to take care of my ATO. I purchased it specifically because it has a max head height of 14', which is plenty to run from my basement up to my tank on the 1st floor. Now that I've opened everything up, I see that there's no friggin way that I'd be able to reach the 10 vertical feet with what's included, let alone the additional 8 horizontal feet that I need.

From the PMUP to the FMM, there's a roughly 6' cord connecting them.
From the float valve to the FMM, there are 2 ~10ft wires for the optical sensors.
From the FMM to the Apex, there's a cute 3' USB (I'm okay with not hooking up to the Apex if that saves a headache).

So I suppose if I had my FMM embedded in the insulation between my basement and the 1st floor, I could get it pretty close.

When I hooked up my DOS to the basement, that wasn't too bad because I just needed an extended USB that I could run through the floor to connect my Apex and DOS - there were no wires that were permanently attached to any hardware. This is not the case with the ATK. For the PMUP, the power cable is permanently attached to the pump (and the other end is some weird molex-like adapter). For the optical sensors, one end of those are permanently attached to the sensors (the other end is what appears to be a standard 3.5mm male.

Thinking through this, it seems like the most reasonable approach here would be to extend the optical sensors with a 3.5mm female to 3.5mm male patch. I could use this to increase the sensors to about 20' and run them into my basement where I have the FMM and PMUP connected to power.

Does anyone have experience doing something similar? Anything that I need to watch out for?

You can buy an extension cable for the pmup. If you mounted FMM near the tank you should only have to extend return hose & pmup cable.
