How to increase salinity

Personally, I wouldn't be all that exact about it...but that's just me. Typically, 1/2 cup salt mixes with 1g water to make around 1.026 salinity. I'd make up a gal or 1/2g of any mixture of concentrated saltwater and maybe add a cup or two to the 20g tank every couple of days until the salinity you want is obtained. You can always cut that down or increase it if a single cup dose of your concentrate doesn't make or makes too much of a change.

So I want to convert my guppy’s to brackish water and they are currently in a empty 20 gallon and I know it is good only to increase by .002 a day but I am going to increase by .001 how much salt would I add in order to do this

Start raising your salt by doing 10-20% water changes. 1) Measure your tanks current salinity and identify new desired salinity level. 2) Prepare 10-20% water change water and mix it to the new desired new salinity. Remove X gallons of water from the tank and replace with the new water. Keep doing that until youve reached your desired salinity level. The continue water changes with pre mixed saltwater at desired salinity level. Be sure to let it mix for 24 hours or more. This will ensure a slow, gradual process. Easy.

You could also just replace your top off with salt water. It doesn't have to be seawater level salinity as that would raise it too quickly, but start at like 1.005. It'll slowly raise it up to your salinity. Test after a day to see if it's a slow enough increase and adjust salinity of the top off as needed.

Edit: WHOOPS NOT 1.05... I meant 1.005!!!
