I just bought 2 x 25 gallons rubbermaid bins to replace my 5 gallons bucket that are just too small for a 75 gallons tank. One for rodi and one for saltwater. I don’t need any connection between the two. I just want something to turn off the water when filling with rodi so it doesn’t flood the room.

With the 5 gallons buckets, it took 1h 45 to fill so I just set an alarm to not forget. But these 25 gallons bins will take almost 9 hours to fill so the risk is high that I forget about it and come back to a flooded room.

So…. Knowing I have no skills and basically no tools (just a dremel tool that I can use to make a hole on the bins), can you explain to me in details what I need to buy and how to install it ?

My rodi system is the Aquatic Life ro buddy.

Thanks ! :)

these are what I use on my 55 gallon storage tanks.

It's a very easy install. Drill a hole the size of the threads at the top of your bin where you want the water to stop. Drill size as close to the threads as possible I actually went really tight then used Teflon tape and twisted it through then put the nut on the outside and hook up yor RO lines.

Yes you'd need 2 kits. One for each.

As a test just turn your water on and move the float by hand to make sure it's working how you want. Lift up water should turn of let go water should come on.

I’ve found this video, although it’s for 5/8 tubing and mine is 1/4 I believe ?

I suppose in my case it goes in the sediment cartridge and out the DI cartridge ?

Yes mine is 1/4 also.
Mine comes out of the DI filter and then has a Y fitting. One side goes to my sump float for ATO the other side goes to my mixing station hold tank. I don't use the solenoid or the check valve. Those are incorporated in my RO/DI set up.

You really only need 1 unit for the RO container.
Pump from there to the other to mix your saltwater in.
The float acts just like the one in a toilet, raising it shuts the water off.
Use a drill to make the hole, take the float to the store & check sizing if you have to buy one.

As Snoopy 67 says you do only need 1 float if they are close to each other and you can use a pump from one bin to the other when your mixing water. If you're trying to fill both bins with your RO water without having to watch it then you will need 2 floats.

Yes, that’s a smarter way to do it. I’ll only buy one.
