Do research and read warnings. Purple tang is said to be aggressive towards tangs of similar shape. Probably why 8 yellows got killed.
Years ago in a 125 I had Naso, Powder Blue, Yellow, Sailfin and Blue and all introduced one at a time and all did fine.
As I look at getting back into the hobby I am interested in a bunch of tangs. Probably the above group and additional species. Any and all comments about multiple tangs are welcomed.

I just put 3 tangs into a 125 gallon tank and one is a yellow tang and one is a purple tang and one is a powder brown tang and I put them all in at once and there all doing good together and I have lots of caves for them to hide in and this is how I put a few tangs together
Hello i have a 160 gallon tank and I've been adding different tangs over a year period. Usually we add them when a mayor water change is done and haven't had that many problems with aggression among them.
Currently we have in the tank:
1 clown tang
1 Achilles tang
1 purple tang
2 blue hippo tangs
1 yellow tang
1 sailfin tang
1 white cheek powder brown tang
1 naso tang
1 sailfin desjardini tang
1 mimic lemon peel tang
1 chocolate tang
1 mimic eibili tang
1 fowleri tang
1 black tang.
Hoping to get soon a gem tang also.
I think part of the success is providing plenty of food and lots of algae, once a week I feed them frozen food also.
The down side is that the level of phosphates is very high so I can't have some corals that I would like.
