I have one of Battlecorals Spainbow that is growing like crazy so I made the mistake of fragging it and placing it in a different spot in the tank . It has encrusted to the rock in the spot but about a month ago I wanted to get rid of the second one. I have scrubbed it so hard with a "battle brush", scrapped it with a knife and I even thought I covered it with kalkwasser.

Well I thought it was dead and I placed a new coral in the spot it was but now I see the spainbow making a come back in same spot and I don't want it to go to war with my new coral and killing it.

What else can I do to kill it without killing my new coral right next to it?

If you already kalk pasted it, use glue or epoxy

This is why I got banned from another forum. Really, kill a live animal in your care because it doesn't suit you!? :(

Yep. Xenia go in the garden. Gsp too. Montis get the paste so do the cyphasteria. Palys get the kalk or injected with vinegar. Some get tossed in the yard if they overgrow the rock. Pests get dipped in bayer, ick bugs get the copper and algaes get scrubbed and killed. And pods get eaten, like the fish we had for dinner.

Thats not really reasonable... I've heard of people killing aiptasia all the time and never getting banned.... The word "pest" is subjective and unless its listed as an endangered animal I think its fair game if its destroying your tank(subjectively)

I figured as much, i'm just joking by the way because I was crying inside a little. If you still need help killing that sps I can send you some of my tank water, it's like a coral dip but opposite. The pests live but the corals die.

Do you use my tank water?

Thanks for the tips! I didn't think of the super glue before. I went and just covered it all with glue.

Yup, that should do the trick. It'll start encrusting over the glue at some point but that won't be for some time.

If you cover it completely with kalkwasser paste and turn the pump's off and let it sit there, it will for sure kill it off.

Isn't that what happens a lot in this hobby? People kill off many things that they consider pest, such as aptasia, vermentid snails, flat worms, red bugs and the list goes on and on.

I considered the second encrusting sps a pest. I didn't want it killing something else I purchased in my tank.

Yeah and its No different than tending a garden in your yard, weeds get pulled, pests get killed, overgrowth is trimmed back... so that it can be scaped as we desire.

I have thrown out plenty of pulsing xenia, I could rarely find someone to come get it when I trimmed it back..

Send a frag of that sexy spainbow my way [emoji41][emoji41]
