Hello, I am interested in purchasing a hammer coral but my tank has only been running for 2 months. I do have 4 frags or Zoas currently in the tank. How do I know when it is ready for LPS corals? These are my water conditions. I have a 37g tall and my salinity is 1.025 and my alk is 8.5.

Honestly, I would say if calcium, magnesium and Kh are stable then go get an LPS and see how it goes

If your parameters are stable, the tank is technically ready. Test your parameters every other day for a couple weeks and log the results and see if they are stable over time (should be logging them anyway).

Hi #frankin09 ,

Some would already be fine but before you actually buy some start to check for the right thing.
Stop checking for ammonia and nitrite unless you love to do extra tests.

For LPS or every corals really you need to check for nitrate, phosphate, alkalinity, magnesium, and calcium.

you want your test done at the same time of the day.

My target levels are matching the Red Sea calculator in their website but you can make up your own there. With dosing it

ca: 440ppm
Mg: 1350ppm
Alk: 8-9dkh
Nitrate 5-10ppm
Phosphate 0.05-0.1ppm
Ph 8.2

have fun
