How high is the alk and what number do you want to target? Also, have you verified the test results with a different kit?

Test New saltwater alk, adjust to your liking using the acid, aerate overnight, do a water change like normal. Do this from now on.

The formula:
Dkh drop x water volume x 0.123= acid needed in ml.

So as I posted above should only be performed outside of the aquarium. This will lower the alkalinity of a freshly mixed batch of saltwater. So let’s do an example and tell you about the side effects.

Dkh drop x water volume x 0.123= ml of acid needed.

Let’s say your alkalinity of the fresh saltwater is 9.0dkh and you need 7.5 dkh the drop would be 1.5 dkh x the water volume of the container of fresh saltwater (30 gallons) x 0.123 = ml of acid needed for that drop.

1.5x30x0.123=5.5ml of muriatic acid

this will get you close to your desired level of 7.5 dkh.

Now the side effects.
This will significantly lower the ph of the fresh saltwater and it shouldn’t be used for 24 hrs to give the CO2 time to boil out of the water . A high flow circulation pump should be used .
Before using the water , double check the alkalinity and ph and of course salinity and temperature.

I wouldn't mess with the acid crap. I'm waiting out mine to drop too and postponing the water changes. It does drop if u just leave it. Have any corals? If so if there growing then let it be. If not get some cheap ones.
