How to lower Alk?

Hi,

My Alk is 12. I want to lower it to 9. Doesn't want to be at upper side.

Any safe way to do that? I'm not in a hurry.

In my tank I have 3 muchrooms and 1 acan. Salinity is 1.025-1.026.

I waited to coralline algae consume alk, but it doesn't happen...

a couple water changes will slowly bring down,check mix for alk level,also check phosphate level,high will choke out coralline growth

Water changes will bring it down only if your new water is lower in ALK. What is your salinity at. If it is high, lowering it will also reduce Alkalinity.

If it does not drop by waiting, the best way is to do water changes with a low alk salt mix.

You can add acid, but that's tricky in a tank with organisms as the ph gets very low unless you go super slow.

Now my alk is 11.3 with 1.025.
