My PH has been increasing last few days. It is getting around 8.6 and I am worried it is getting too high. What would be safe way to lower it a little? I have moved all ph lower as to not break the surface and have my return from skimmer under water at this point to try and help.

If you are not adding high pH additives, and the alkalinity is 11 dKH or less, the pH won't ever get too high on its own, and if it does appear to get above pH 8.6 in that scenario, it is almost certainly testing error of some sort.

How are you measuring pH?

What are you adding to the tank?

Testing through apex. I am about to clean and calibrate it now. My ph has always ran high. I use brs 2 part the alk raises ph for short period but it goes back down. I have recently been bringing my led lights up a little but I wouldn't think that would cause it to go this high.

I keep alk right around 9. I calibrated the probe today, but I made sure the fluid was same temp as tank. I am now around 8.1. The last time I calibrated the fluid wasn't tank temp could that cause my error in calibration?? Now I am wondering if probe is bad.lol

Temperature does make some difference, both in the measurement and in the actual pH of the standards.

I guess I will mark that down as a human calibration error.lol. Thank you sir for getting me to thinking. I feel that it is calibrated right now.
