My phosphates are off the charts high and my nitrates are perfect. I assume the reason I have so much algae is because of the phosphates. I am wondering what the best way to lower my phosphates is. I have an algae reactor with chaeto which is not growing at all so would my best bet be dosing nitrates to make the algae reactor work or should I look for a chemical that only removes phosphates? Or is there a better way to achieve perfect parameters?

The 2 chemicals for this are GFO and Lanthanum chloride. There are various brands of both. GFO goes in a reactor, and LC drips into a sock and precipitates P out.

Quit feeding fish food coated with polyphosphates

The fish food that I feed is definitely coated with something and from the article, you showed me it seems that may be the case! Thank you!

Are you able to recommend any brands?

Brightwells phosphat-e
I live in Australia and nowhere in Australia sells it and the closest shipping arrival is over a month away

Two Little Fishies Phosban-L works great. And you may want to look at the green hair algae as well.
I assumed the high phosphates were the cause of the hair algae and will look into the brand thanks!
