How to make a temporary tank. 20 G long

I have a 20 gallon long that I plan to turn into a temporary home for fish from my previous tank. My reefer 350 will be delivered tomorrow and i need a temporary home for my little ones. 2 Miami whites that I picked up from a breeder in Miami last winter and a lighting maroon clown and a starry blenny.
What exactly would I need?

If the fish do not need to be treated for anything, you can use existing live rock, HOB filter and a heater to keep them. There is really no need for sand in a temp tank as most of the bac live in the rocks. If the fish needed to be treated for anything, then you would not want rock and to set the tank up as QT per the sticky in the fish disease section.

Just be sure you use ample rock and keep some prime or amquel on hand on case of an ammonia spike.

Basically you will need some live rocks or seachem matrix already cycle, a heater, a seachem ammonia batch, a wave maker that you already have and a filter will be great like a AC30 or AC50.

Just for some reassurance. I have took 3 weeks setting a tank up and used a brute can for my fish. Just had some live rock, canister filter, and a heater. Light form the room was all that used to illuminate it, and they all did just fine.

All great suggestions for sure including the HOB such as an AquaClear 30 or 50. If it's going to be the average cycle time of a new tank it wouldn't hurt to throw a chemi-pure or elite in the AC30/50.

I would for sure add a tank divider to keep the maroon separate from the whites. And eggcrate atop the tank so no-one gets stressed and goes carpet surfing.

Please post some pics tomorrow of the new 350 so some of us can drool.

While i wait on the filter from petland to arrive any minute now they're in a bucket temporarily.
