You can permanently damage a membrane from a sudden spike in water pressure. It can be from a Toilet Flush Valve Closing, Dishwasher or Washing Machine Solenoid Valve closing. We had a Large RO/DI Station at Work, feeding a Cold Flash Distillation Unit. We Started blowing out Membranes, it was from a Hose Nozzle used to wash equipment, shutting on and off.
